Alrewas Show 2021

It is with a heavy heart the Alrewas Agricultural & Horticultural Society announce the cancellation of the 2021 Alrewas Show due to the delay in lifting of lockdown restrictions to the 19th July 2021.

Following a detailed review of our options, including but not limited to the current Government guidelines and suitable alternative dates, we feel the Show cannot go ahead in its usual format this year.

We strive to provide a fun, enjoyable family day out and rely heavily on the public, exhibitors and all who contribute to the Show to make it one of the most varied family days out in the Midlands. This morning we begin working on next year’s show to be held on Saturday 16th July 2022. This will be our 140th show (much delayed from 2020) and so we hope that you will join us in making it one of the best days possible.

We will begin contacting our Members and exhibitors directly over the coming days and each and every one of our supporters will be offered the option of a full refund or carrying over their payment to next year’s show. Anyone wishing to donate their subscription to the charity (reg. 1178661) will also be able to do so.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your continued support and we wish everyone our best wishes and good health in the coming year.

We look forward to seeing you in 2022.

Mountain & Moorland Ponies

Mountain and moorland or M&M ponies form a group of several breeds of ponies and small horses native to the British Isles.

Many of these breeds are derived from semi-feral ponies kept on moorland or heathland, and some of them still live in this way, such as on Exmoor, Dartmoor and in the New Forest, as well as being kept as fully domesticated horses for riding, driving and other draught work, or for horse showing.

Mountain and moorland classes at horse shows in the British Isles cover most of the breeds; however, the four closely related Welsh breeds often form their own classes. Traditionally the modern mountain and moorland ponies have been regarded as including nine breeds (the four Welsh types being counted as one)
