Alrewas Show

Alrewas Autumn Gathering

Come and join us for a series of community events around Alrewas over the weekend of the 4th and 5th of September.

Due to the COVID pandemic we have missed 2 successive Alrewas Shows (the only time this has ever happened in peacetime) and the 2020 Arts Festival, both of which are a major part of our village life.

So as we emerge from lockdown our Alrewas Show, Alrewas Arts Festival and Alrewas Island volunteers have created a relaxed outdoor series of events to give our local community the opportunity to get together and have some fun:

We have 2 main events planned:

Saturday 4th September 10am – 5pm: Horses, Hounds and more
A mini country show on the Alrewas Show field, with something for all the family, including Horse shows, classic cars, vintage tractors, dog show and agility display, working crafts displays, live band music and more.
There’ll be snacks and refreshments on sale and a licensed bar.
Free parking - but please come on foot if you can!

Sunday 5th September 11am – 5pm: ArtsFest on the Island!
A selection of Arts Festival activities plus some new ones.
Limited free disabled parking. No other parking is available on site so please do not come by car.

Further information can be found on the event website:

All proceeds from the events will be distributed to local charities and good causes.

Let's get together and start making up for lost time!

Chickens are one of the more recent classes of animal to be domesticated for farming purposes. They have been providing meat, eggs and feathers to humans for around 4,000 years.

In the past they were also used for sport - cock fighting was in fact made illegal in the UK in 1849. These days chicken is one of the world-wide staple sources of protein, and is the meat most consumed in the UK - we get through over 2 million chickens a day.

But there is more to poultry than just chickens. There are dozens of recognised breeds, all scrupulously regulated by the Poultry Club of Great Britain.

At the Alrewas show you'll see a great selection of some of the most spectacular breeds of poultry - but be warned, it can get noisy inside the tent when the crowing starts!

You don't have to be a professional to exhibit at the Alrewas Show - if you keep poultry at home, bring them along to be judged in our poultry pets competition.

Poultry at the 2021 Alrewas Show

Please note that in the light of the pandemic we are still considering whether or not we can safely hold our usual poultry competition. Because of this no schedules have been issued as yet.

We will update this page on or around 15th June with further updates. Please check back then.
